Not long after he enrolled in the College of Southern Idaho’s nursing program in 2002, Heath Harmison discovered he was much better with funny bones than with the rest of the human anatomy. He did his first standup routine during a CSI ‘open mic’ night and never looked back. “I was hooked. I decided that nursing wasn’t for me. I started living my dream of making people laugh,” he writes in his publicity material.
Harmison brings his ‘Live Funny or Die Laughing’ tour to CSI at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Now based in Boise, he has performed throughout the U.S. and Canada including Seattle, San Francisco, La Vegas, New York, and Los Angeles. He has performed in Spain and also at Scotland’s Fringe Festival, described as the largest performing arts festival in the world. His act includes many celebrity impressions and accents.
Harmison has appeared several times at CSI since taking his act public, once with comedian, actor, and MTV host Jeff Dye. He is also part of an improv duo called Recycled Minds. His work can be seen at www.heathharmison.com.
CSI students with ID cards will be admitted free of charge. General admission is $7.
