Neonatal intensive care (NIC) nursing practice 2000-current. Certifications include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), STABLE, high-risk neonatal intensive care nurse (RNC-NIC), Certified Breastfeeding Educator (CBE), and Excellence in Teaching Online Certification of Instructional Effectiveness. In addition, affiliations include American Nurses Association (ANA), Nurse Leaders of Idaho (NLI), National League for Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and Golden Key International Honour Society.

Teaching involves a commitment to people, learning, opportunity, excellence, creativity, integrity, teamwork, and effective communication and collaboration. A partnership exists between the nursing student, nurse educator, and clinical staff to assist in the development of a professional registered nurse who demonstrates high-quality, safe, and cost-effective care to a diverse population in a complex health care system. A nursing educator must consider prior experiences and diversity students bring to the learning environment.
