  CSI Foundation News 2007 - 2008

Four new board members have joined the board as of July 2007.  Glenn Arrington, Steve D. Peterson, Ruth S. Pierce, all from Twin Falls and Bruce Newcomb from Declo.  They all bring expertise to our board from their various business backgrounds.  Welcome aboard and thank you all for your dedication to help serve CSI, the Foundation and the Magic Valley communities!

Welcome Tara Rowland!Tara, our new Office Specialist joined the Foundation staff in November 2007.  She is a Twin Falls native and had moved to Moscow, Idaho where earned she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Science and Technology at the University of Idaho.  Following college Tara and her husband Brent resided in Nampa.  Tara, Brent and their daughter Chloe moved back to Twin Falls to be closer to family.  We are especially happy to have her as part of the Foundation team!

The 2007-2008 Annual Campaign began in December 2007 with the mailing of our Annual Report Calendar.  Sent along with the calendar was a postage-paid return envelope listing the different CSI departments and areas in need of contributions.  If you were a donor during the past two years you should have received a Foundation Calendar in your home or business mailbox.  Please contact our office if you did not receive a calendar.  The great CSI photos were provided by CSI’s Public Relations Director, Doug Maughan!

Graduate Scholarships & More!
The CSI Foundation is proud to announce that as of February 7, 2008 we have given out over $750,000 in scholarship dollars to CSI Students for the 2007-2008 academic year.  Students who are scholarship recipients are especially grateful for the financial assistance toward earning their degrees.  We receive on a daily basis thank you notes and letters from CSI students telling us how much this means to them not only financially but for their future career dreams.    The Foundation Board also created the NEW HOPE SCHOLARSHIP for first generation college students.  This program began for the Fall 2007 semester and Mary Jo Church, the CSI Scholarship Coordinator, has awarded 77 new CSI students a New Hope Scholarship.  Many of these students did not think they had a chance of ever attending a College or obtaining a college degree.  Way to go Foundation Board Members!

Mac N. Evans
Remembering Mac N. Evans.
The Foundation and the Magic Valley lost a great friend with the passing of Mac Evans.  Mac passed away on February 13, 2008 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was a great supporter of our Professional-Technical programs here at CSI and truly believed in the value of what an education can do for our Magic Valley citizens.  Mac’s family chose to remember the students at CSI during this difficult time by asking that donations be sent to support Professional-Technical Scholarships at CSI.  If you would like to honor Mac in this manner, donations can be sent to the CSI Foundation, PO Box 1238, Twin Falls, 83303-1238, for the CSI Professional-Technical Scholarship fund. .
