Ms. Stephanie Maughan
An Idaho native, Stephanie Maughan grew up in Boise, Idaho. She received her Bachelors Degree from Boise State University in Music Education with an emphasis in Strings. While there she studied under Professor Craig Purdy and was given opportunities to sit as concertmistress, principal second violin as well as a violist. While attending BSU, she was also the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) Chapter President and coordinated a string festival for elementary performers. In addition, she helped in founding the Delta Beta Nu Sorority.
Stephanie chose her degree when she was in sixth grade while attending a rehearsal for the All-City Elementary Honor Orchestra directed by Wendy Hartman. From that point, she strove to take in as much musical literature, history and educational resources as position and opened her first private violin/viola studio at the age of 14. Each year she learned a new string instrument and now comfortably plays all the string instruments of the orchestra, piano, guitar and bagpipes.
Stephanie Maughan has taught for the Boise School District for the past three years full time and before worked as the Boise Summer Music String Specialist. She has taught elementary choir, general music, elementary strings and junior high orchestra. She is currently the All-City Elementary Honor Orchestra director for the Boise School District and has been for the past three years.
