Descripción del curso:

This course is a continuation of Spanish 101. By now you must have completed Spanish 101 or two years of Spanish in high school. We will learn additional verbs tenses, sharpen oral proficiency and expand on grammar and vocabulary. You will be required to give oral presentations. Lessons 7-12 will be covered.

El libro para la clase:

¡Trato Hecho! Second Edition and Workbook by John T. McMinn & Patricia Rush

Required Tape:

¡Trato Hecho! Cassette program (to be copied in the CSI Library)

Prerequisites:

"Buena Actitud" (good attitude), Spanish 101 or two years of high school Spanish or permission from the instructor.

Objetivos del Curso:

Learning Spanish will help you become aware of how a variety of people think and act in different cultural and social situations. You will gain insight into your own language and society as you compare how another culture views and puts into words the world we share. Students will be able to speak, first about themselves and their own immediate world and about their families, friends, and other topics of interest.

Policies and Procedures:

Learning another language especially in the beginning is like driving a car. It requires attention, focus, work practice, awareness and responsibility. It is imperative that you attend class daily. It is not possible to make up missed classes. There is no formal penalty for being absent. However, you will have 1 day to make up your work. After that there is no credit for the work missed. I reserve the right to drop anyone from the class who missed more than 5 days of class.

Evaluation

Grades will be calculated by performance on daily homework, chapter tests, and the final examination. One missed test may be made up. The designated date for make-ups is May 10th, the last class period before finals.

Honesty and Integrity

Cheating: the improper use of books, notes, other student’s tests or other aids during an examination. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain approval for the use of such aids prior to the time of the examination; otherwise, they will be considered improper. An "examination" is defined as "any testing situation in which the score will be used for credit in a course." A student caught cheating will receive an F or will be dropped from class depending on the situation of the offense.
