TITLE: Cheerleading
INSTRUCTOR: Cathy Trotter
TEXTBOOK: No textbook is required. Must have adequate exercise apparel and cheerleading equipment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course involves training and development of strength, dance, jumps, stunts, and cheering skills through a coordinated program, as well as demonstration of these skills at athletic events, rallies, etc. Performance of public relations, sportsmanship and the promotion of the college. Students receive one-hour credit for participation in collegiate cheerleading throughout the season.
PREREQUISITE:
Permission from the instructor/advisor
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To develop skills for cheerleading, including coordination, dance, stunts, jumps and enthusiasm, all the operative skills necessary for the development of an effective cheerleading squad.
SUBJECT MATTER CONTENT:
Demonstration and practice of skills followed by actual performance at athletic events, rallies, projects, etc.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Regular attendance in class and athletic events, regular participation in cheerleading activities, including games, rallies, meetings, and projects.
EVALUATION CRITERIA:
40% Activity participation
40% Practice and attendance
20% Attitude as evaluated by the instructor/advisor
