Modern principles of Athletic Training

Course Description:
This class introduces the student to athletic training procedures as they relate to the athlete, coach, physical educator, and athletic trainer. This class includes history of the athletic training profession, ethics, and principles of athletic training.

Grading:
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79% = C
60-69% = D
59% or less = E

Homework 100 points
Quizzes 100 points
Exams 100 points
Final Exam 100 points
Portfolio 100 points
Total 900 points

Assignments are due when class starts; late assignments will be penalized 10% each day they are late.

The student is responsible to set up make up test. The make-up test will not be the same test.

Drop slips are the responsibility of the student.

Extra credit will be available. Please ask the instructor early for E.C. assignments.

Honesty Policy: The CSI student handbook outlines this policy. you cheat you get a Zero. In addition you maybe asked to drop the class.

Attendance is expected, come to class prepared (do the reading before class, take notes, answer questions.) If you know you will be absent, turn your work in early, to avoid penalties.

Things you should not bring to class:
Children, pagers & cell phones, C.D. players, and excuses.

OBJECTIVES:

A. Basic understanding of the sports medicine team, who is involved and their roles.
B. Working knowledge of human anatomy. Anatomy and medical terms.

OUTCOMES:

The student will produce from the class notes as well as out of class work, there own handbook (portfolio) for their use in their carriers as coaches, PE, and athletic trainers. This portfolio will be used as an assessment of the student success of the listed course objectives.
