My teaching philosophy varies from one course to the next, but the one constant to the philosophy is that I am here to help the student. For introductory courses such as CHEM 101 or CHEM 190, I believe that the teacher should help the students overcome the fear that is common to many students as well as learn some chemistry. As the student moves up the chemistry ladder to CHEM 111 and CHEM 112, the teacher should help the students learn how to teach themselves as well as learn from the teacher. In all of the classes, the teaching style is informal with emphasis placed on student questions during the class.
