Records FAQ

Admissions:

  1. Q.  What do I need to do to come to CSI?
    A.  Submit an application for admission, take the CSI skills assessment test, have your high school and college transcripts sent to CSI, and see an adviser or counselor.
  2. Q.  What is the last day to drop?
    A.  It is always the end of the 12th week of the term for full term courses , for fall and spring, or the end of the 6th week for summer. For courses which are less than the length of the term a student may drop until 75% of the course has elapsed.
  3. Q.  Do I need a signature to drop?
    A.   No
  4. Q.   How do long do I have to live in Idaho to establish residency?
    A.   You must provide proof that you have made Idaho your permanent domicile for at least one year.
  5. Q.   Do I have to take the Compass test to enter CSI?
    A.   If you are taking only Adult Basic Education, Community Education, or Short Term Training classes - No. If you are under age 16 and want to take credit classes - yes. If you are still in high school or being home schooled and want to take credit classes - yes, in most instances (you may submit a petition to the Registrar to waive this requirement). If you are at least 16 years of age and no longer in high school or no longer being home schooled, are not taking English or math courses, and are not seeking a degree, and are taking less than 9 credits - no. If you are at least 16 years of age and no longer in high school or no longer being home schooled and are seeking a degree - yes.
  6. Q.   What if I don't do well on the test?
    A.   You may retake the test as many times as you like.

Registration:

  1. Q.   Can I register for classes by phone?
    A.   You may register for Community Education classes only by phone at (208) 733-9554 ext. 2288 or 2290 732-6288 or (208) 732-6290 . All other classes may be registered for in person or on the CSI web page at www.csi.edu. All students except for those taking only Community Ed classes must register in person the first semester.
  2. Q.   How do I know what classes I need to take?
    A.   Get a copy of the current catalog, they are sold through the CSI Bookstore for $2, and see an adviser or counselor to determine what courses would be best for you.

Transcripts:

  1. Q.   What do I need to do to get a transcript sent from CSI?
    A.   Either come to the Records Office and complete a transcript request or Fax us a request. The request must include your name, SSN, birth date, approximate year and term when you were here, name and address of the place where you want it sent (include the FAX number if you want it to be faxed), signature, credit card number, expiration date, and name on the card.   2. Q.   What is the cost for transcripts?
    A.   Unofficial transcripts are free, official transcripts are $5, and there is an additional $5 if you want to have the transcript faxed.
