Change For Children

Change for Children is to be an annual event hosted by ASCSI Student Senate that is dedicated to helping children in need who reside in our community. All proceeds from this event should be donated to the child or children adopted by senate.

“OPERATION: A.J.”

Aj Acevedo

AJ Acevedo is the little boy that the 2007-2008 ASCSI Student Senate adopted. He is an 8-year-old boy who is in the third grade, which is being home schooled by his single mother. AJ has been diagnosed with Stage II Astrocytoma, a form of brain tumor that assaults the central nervous system. If left unchecked this condition can become fatal.

Senate and AJ

The ASCSI Student Senate selected AJ as the first Change for Children recipient. Despite being subjected to challenges, AJ continues to be an energetic, caring, and extremely funny little boy. AJ loves the outdoors and mysteries and hopes to become a spy one day. For this reason, we have chosen the top-secret subtitle, “Operation: AJ,” to represent the 2007-2008 Change For Children program. Throughout this talent show event, we had various performance; especially from the Twin Falls area schools. Thanks to the help of the community and the college; the ASCSI Student Senate was able to raise $6,578.82 in one night.
