Penelope (Polly) Barker
When Polly decided to return to college after having been a stay-at-home mom she found that none of the credits she had earned in England transferred here, so she had to start over. She enjoyed classes so much that she kept taking more, and graduated from CSI in 1998 with an A.A. in Psychology, Finance, Accounting, and General Business. Six weeks before graduation Polly's husband died very suddenly and she realized that she had to become the provider for her family. Working at CSI in the Testing Center has allowed Polly to complete her bachelor's degree from Boise State University with a major in General Business Management and a minor in Accounting. Her children have also been able to take classes here in their home town before leaving for other cities. Polly continues to take classes for personal enrichment, and probably shall do so always. As she said in her testimony: "It adds so much to life to keep learning."
