Patrick graduated from CSI’s Hotel/Motel Management Program. While at CSI he served as Student Body Vice President and Student Body President. He was an ambassador for the college and was active in DEX and Post Secondary Ag. He earned his National Degree from the FFA organization while attending CSI. After graduation he moved to Boise where he eventually went to work for a local restaurant as General Manager. He lived and worked in the Boise area for four years until he took a chance and tried the Cruise Line industry. In May of 1995 he went to Seattle and worked his first summer season in Alaska aboard the M/V SeaSpirit. Patrick was hooked. He worked the next twelve years in the small ship cruise industry. He worked in many different positions on board from bartender to maître d’. In 2002 he became the Hotel Manager on the flagship of the company that he worked for. He moved to a new company in 2004 where he worked a short time on board before moving into the corporate office in Portland, Oregon, as the Director of Hotel Operations. In 2007 Patrick decided that it was time for a change of scenery, so he started looking to come back to Idaho. In June he and a business partner purchased Fawn’s Classic Candies and Deli in Weiser Idaho. They now operate that business with plans to expand the wholesale operations.
In his testimony Patrick wrote: “The values and lessons that were taught at CSI have been invaluable. The leadership skills that I honed while attending the college have shaped my career and personal life. I have often used the materials that I learned while in the Hotel program. Not to mention the life skills that were provided by attending CSI. I often remark on how CSI didn’t just teach from the books, it taught a way of life that is the cornerstone to every person’s success in life.”
