Supervisors today face a world of tremendous change and challenge. The
increasing complexity of work, continually changing customer expectations, and
the need for higher levels of productivity and employee commitment, all
combine to require supervisors to perform in ways that are different than was
true in the past. Designed to build practical basic skills, as well as
confidence and understanding, each participant will develop an individual
action plan and the appropriate skills needed most in leading employees to
greater individual, team, and organizational performance. These four courses
are offered through College of Southern Idaho in partnership with
Boise State
University Center for Professional Development.
Applied Leadership: The Art
of Supervision
Competency-Based Learning to Enhance Leadership Skills
This series is designed to build the skills supervisors need most in
leading employees to greater individual, team, and organizational performance.
Applied Leadership: Lead from Within (Part I) will
develop skills in better communication, identifying roles and responsibilities, interpersonal styles and self
management.
Applied Leadership: Lead Great People (Part II) will
develop personal effectiveness skills in the areas of creating a motivating climate, leading for growth, and
performance management.
Applied Leadership: Lead with Purpose (Part III) will
explore skills in customer service, vision setting, problem solving, and process improvement.
Applied Leadership: Lead for Legacy (Part IV) looks at
ethics, conflict resolutions, negotiation skills and change management. |
Who
Should Attend . . .
Although
each of these four Applied Leadership modules are excellent preparation for people
expecting to assume supervisory responsibilities in the near future, experienced
supervisors, group leaders, and lead persons will find these courses helpful
in updating leadership skills and practices appropriate to the demands
of today’s work place. Each module is 'stand alone' and they can be taken in
any order but the greatest benefit to the attendee will be derived from taking
all four modules.
Program
Formats . . .
Participants
will engage in interactive, experiential workshop sessions that feature
case studies, planning exercises, self-assessments, and role plays that
will give individuals the opportunity to gain insight and develop strategies
for improving supervision. Finally, each participant will develop an individual
action plan to ensure that they are concentrating on the appropriate skills
and increasing the transfer of training to their workplace.
Each
person completing any Leadership module will develop an individual action
plan, including suggestions for ongoing development and maintenance of
skills and will receive a Certificate of Completion from CSI/BSU for 1.2 CEU's
per level (12 Hours). Performance aids, including a variety of useful checklists and
models, offer another way to ensure that skills are applied on-the-job.
Time,
Place, and Fee . . .
The $390 fee for each
module includes all instruction and program materials.
Sign
up for two modules and save 10% per program. Two
or more from the same company who sign up for at least one module also qualify
for the discount fee of $351.00.
