The Library contains informational materials relevant to the studies of lower-division college students.
The Library houses over 69,000 titles (76,600 volumes), 380 magazines, journals, and newspapers; and over 4,300 videos,
DVDs, music CDs, Books on Tape and audiorecordings. For distance students, students who cannot come to
the Library to check out printed materials, or students who prefer electronic resources the Library offers
a variety of online resources, including access to: online journals, magazines, newspapers, e-books,
downloadable audiobooks, etc. The Library provides access to over 9,700 e-books, 1,500 downloadable digital audiobooks, 160 electronic journals (not including the online journals our students can access through our statewide LiLI-D system), and 11 fee-based online databases.
The reference collection consists of more than 5,000 library-use-only volumes that may be referenced
and photocopied as allowed by copyright laws and regulations during library business hours.
The Library also has online reference materials which can be accessed by our users anytime anywhere
from a computer with Internet connection.
The Library offers many online services, including e-reserves. Instructors can easily place handouts,
articles, etc. on reserve and students can access the material at their leisure, 24 hours a day,
without having to come into the Library. The Library also has some audiovisual materials (mostly videos)
that are housed in the Reserve section behind the circulation desk and can be checked out to students for
library use or, in some cases, overnight use. Instructors from other higher education institutions who are
teaching courses on the CSI campus can also place items on reserve.
The Library maintains a collection of historical materials about CSI including catalogs, course schedules,
news releases, newspaper clippings, photographs, and committee minutes. The Library also houses a collection
of donated history books, pamphlets, newspapers, magazines, and photos whose subject matter is of local
historical importance and interest.
