Every student who is registered for classes automatically gets a CSI e-mail account.  How do you access your e-mail?  We have several links to it on the CSI Web site (e.g. under EagleInfo) or you can go directly to: http://students.csi.edu  You can access your e-mail anywhere from a computer with Internet connection (just start Internet Explorer and type in the above address).

If you are taking an online class, it is advisable to send an e-mail to your instructor who will contact you with instructions on how to get to your course.

How to login

The initial username and password are almost the same for CSI student e-mail account, network, Blackboard and online library resources (Blackboard uses your full last name where network, email, and library online resources use only first 13 letters). Login to MyCSI is different (uses a PIN that you retrieve online). Important: when you change your password for network/e-mail/library, your Blackboard password does NOT automatically change (and vice versa). You can change your Blackboard password separately after you first log into the system.  We strongly encourage all students to change their default password to a secret password that they only know and can easily remember, yet others cannot guess. To change passwords in Blackboard, you need to log in once then go to Personal Information, Change Password. In order to avoid unauthorized access to your account (including grades posted in Blackboard), please do not share the secret password with anyone.

Please read the following information carefully before attempting to log in.

  • Go to http://students.csi.edu
    • username: first three letters of first name, first 13 letters of your last name, birth month, and birth day

Starting the Spring 2007 semester, e-mail became the primary means of written communication with all CSI students.  All students automatically get a CSI e-mail account when they register for courses.  Student e-mail addresses have the following format: username@students.csi.edu.

Students are expected to check their CSI e-mail accounts regularly as they receive official communications via e-mail from their instructors as well as from various offices such as Records and Admissions, Business Office, Advising, Financial Aid, etc. It is the students’ responsibility to check their CSI e-mail accounts regularly.  Failing to do so will result in missing important messages and deadlines.

Students are also required to leave their CSI e-mail addresses in Blackboard, and not change them to their personal e-mail addresses.  Besides the obvious advantages of using the CSI e-mail, not giving out personal e-mail addresses is preferred due to privacy reasons.

At the beginning of each semester free training sessions will be offered to students that will cover, among other things, the use of CSI e-mail accounts, including netiquette and various legal and ethical issues.

Students may choose to forward their messages from their CSI accounts to their personal accounts, but it will be their responsibility to check those personal accounts regularly and maintain them to make sure that the mailboxes do not become full and messages do not start bouncing back. For instructions on how to set this up, click here.
