The College of Southern Idaho Kindergarten Lab is designed to meet the developmental and educational needs of children 5-6 years of age. Teaching practices include inquiry/project-based learning, development of executive function skills, and the development of problem-solving skills. The content of the curriculum covers Literacy, Math, Science, Engineering, Technology, Creative Arts, Social development, and Physical development. We teach with the belief that learning is inherently interesting to children, and that they are naturally curious. We work to strengthen a love of learning.
With teacher support and guidance, children will develop projects to guide their learning. They will do in-depth study in a project which includes a goal they are working toward. This approach gives children a purpose in learning and is very motivating. The skills and knowledge they learn are then readily applied to multiple settings. The curriculum meets the Common Core Standards.
