Ben Britton's Sound Expression: Album Release Concert
An adept and tenacious jazz musician from the northwest U.S., CSI Professor, tenor saxophonist, and composer Ben Britton brings his unique creativity and expression to the fore with a new recording, Sound Expression, highlighting the drive and energy often heard in his playing and writing. Drawing on elements from the jazz tradition, Britton fuses these with melodic counterpoint, rhythmic intricacy, and an adventurous improvisatory spirit. His group will play songs from their recording along with some new additions at their upcoming performance. The other members of the ensemble are all gifted musicians in their own right. For the performance, Britton will be joined by two other horn players, Rick Speicher on trumpet and Chris Cawthra on alto sax, and the rhythm section is filled out by Michael Frew on guitar, Dean Rodemack on double bass, and Alex Doetsch on drum set.
