At Star Falls, the churning Snake River squeezes through a passage
less than 40 feet wide known as the infamous Caldron Linn. Below
the Falls is the starting point for the world class whitewater of
the Murtaugh section known to river enthusiasts throughout the world.
The late Dr. Blackadar from Salmon and many others consider this
section the best single day trip in North America! Nearby, towering
rock hoodoos mark the way to the South Hills, a cool forested playground
with camping, fishing, mountain biking, or horseback riding.
