Have you ever felt that you would like to write down the stories from your life—the funny, the sad, the profound events from your life--but have not had the opportunity or encouragement to do so? Are you looking to get your creative juices flowing and let your imagination and experiences pour onto the paper? This class is designed for anyone who wants to dive into the world of creative non-fiction writing. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced writer, this class will craft your skill and sharpen your writing.  This course, taught by CSI Theater and English instructor Shane Brown and Idaho poet Laureate and English professor Jim Irons, is a beginning level introduction with a focus on students creating material while work-shopping and learning the structures of creative non-fiction writing. The course offers a glimpse into the world of short stories, poetry, and memoir writing. Students will read and discuss examples from various writers, use these as models to create their own works, and workshop their own, and others’, writings in a safe yet challenging setting.
