Center for New Directions

Life can be challenging, but you don’t have to navigate it alone! The Center for New Directions (CND) at CSI is here to support single parents, displaced homemakers, and CTE students in non-traditional career programs (Career Pioneers) as they work toward their education and career goals.

How we can help you

  • Help with college admissions – Guidance through the application and enrollment process to make starting college easier.
  • Explore your education & career options – Discover programs that match your interests and career goals.
  • Connect with resources – Get referrals for campus and community services like childcare, financial aid, and housing.
  • Workshops for success – Learn valuable skills like time management, budgeting, and career planning.
  • One-on-one support – Personalized help to navigate challenges and stay on track toward your goals.

Whether you need guidance, resources, or just someone to help you figure out your next step, the CND is here for you. Reach out today—we’re ready to help you succeed!

Talk with CND first

Not sure which support you qualify for? Meet with a CND staff member to explore scholarships, childcare options, and other resources. Email cnd@csi.edu or call 208-732-6219.

Need emergency financial help?

If you are a CND student facing unexpected financial difficulties, you can apply for Single Parent & Displaced Homemaker Hardship Funds. This fund offers short-term financial assistance to CND-eligible students who are facing unexpected hardships and need help staying enrolled.

Who We Help

The Center for New Directions at CSI is here for students who are juggling school with big life changes or responsibilities. We support:

  • Single Parents – If you’re the main provider for your child and need job skills to support your family, we can help you find the right education and career path.
  • Displaced Homemakers – If you’ve been a stay-at-home parent or caregiver but now need to work due to divorce, separation, or the loss of a spouse, we can guide you toward training and employment opportunities.
  • Career Pioneers – If you're training for a job in a field where most workers are the opposite gender (like women in welding or men in nursing), we offer resources and support to help you succeed.

No matter where you’re starting from, we’re here to help you take the next step toward a stable and rewarding career.
