Brett Thompson

Brett Thompson has been teaching at CSI for the past four and a half years, helping students understand how economics shapes the world around them. As an Assistant Professor of Business and Economics, he encourages students to think critically and recognize the role economic systems play in their everyday lives.

Inspired by his mom, who was a teacher, Brett followed a path into education after discovering his own passion for economics. Before joining CSI, he taught high school economics in Hansen while earning his MBA, bringing both teaching experience and real-world perspective into the classroom.

Students quickly learn that Brett's classes are anything but quiet. He keeps students engaged by asking questions, encouraging discussion, and challenging them to share their thoughts and opinions throughout class.

One thing that often surprises students is just how much economics impacts their daily lives, even when they don't realize it. Brett hopes every student leaves his class with a better understanding of the world around them and how economic decisions affect individuals, businesses, and communities.

Outside of CSI, Brett enjoys lifting weights, golfing, and spending time with his wife and dogs. Students are often surprised to learn he's deadlifted 860 pounds for three reps and pressed 460 pounds overhead.

His advice to students: no matter what career path you choose, understanding economics will help you make better decisions throughout your life.
