Laura has been part of the CSI community since Fall 2021 and teaches Introductory Microbiology (BIOL 221) and Human Anatomy And Physiology II (BIOL 228). Her path to teaching began as a student athlete and tutor, where she discovered how rewarding it was to support students as they learned and grew, a passion that carried her through graduate school and into the classroom.
Laura loves the collaborative environment within her department and enjoys forming meaningful connections with students as they navigate challenging material and future career paths. She finds it especially rewarding when students reach those “lightbulb” moments where everything starts to click.
She supports students through flexible hybrid lectures, strong technology support, and accessible office hours, understanding that life outside the classroom doesn’t always follow a perfect schedule.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys video games, kayaking, skiing, movie nights, and fully nerding out over Lord of the Rings with her husband and young son. A fun fact? She grew up performing musical theatre and was part of a singing and dancing troupe.
Her advice to students: come prepared, take classes in the right order, and remember: CSI is a place of growth. No matter where you come from, you belong here.
