Marci Boyle teaching classes in the English Program.

Marci is a Professor of English in the English, Languages And Philosophy Department at the College of Southern Idaho and has been part of the CSI community since August 2009.

A lifelong reader with a family tie to the field, Marci's love for English started early. She earned her master's degree in English from Idaho State University and taught as an adjunct at ISU and BYU–Idaho before joining CSI. Between her bachelor's and master's degrees, she also worked as a technical writer in Ohio, bringing real-world writing experience into the classroom.

At CSI, Marci teaches ENGL 101, ENGL 102, ENGL 215 World Mythology, and ENGL 267 - 268 British Literature I and II. What she enjoys most about teaching is being in the classroom and interacting with students. Encouraging them, supporting their goals, and exposing them to stories, books, and ideas that help shape how they think and see the world.

Supporting students inside and outside the classroom is central to her approach. Marci prioritizes creating a safe, welcoming environment where students feel they belong and know they are genuinely valued. She works hard to remain approachable so students feel comfortable reaching out with questions, concerns, or challenges.

Outside of work, Marci enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors camping with her kids, and attending live performances including theatre and music. A fun fact most students wouldn't guess? She takes her chai strong and lava hot.

Her advice for new and future CSI students: be brave, try new things, meet new people and take the mythology class!
