CSI Hosting Disaster Day Training

Tuesday 2026-04-07

TWIN FALLS, Idaho — The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) Health Sciences and Human Services Department will host Disaster Day, a large-scale, hands-on emergency response training designed to prepare students for real-world disaster scenarios. The event is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026 at CSI’s Twin Falls campus and will be led by a cross-disciplinary planning committee.

Disaster Day will simulate an emergency incident, transforming the campus into a dynamic training environment where students work together to respond to a complex emergency. Participants from all of CSI's Health Professions and Nursing programs will collaborate in real time to assess, triage, and treat simulated patients. The immersive experience is designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills across disciplines.

“This event gives our students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to a realistic, high-pressure situation,” said Brad Buehler, Fire Science Program Manager. “It’s an invaluable experience that prepares them to work effectively as part of a coordinated emergency response team.”

The college extends its sincere appreciation to community healthcare partners, including St. Luke’s Magic Valley and North Canyon Medical Center, for their generous support of Disaster Day. Their partnership plays a critical role in enhancing the quality and realism of the training experience for CSI students.

Disaster Day reflects CSI’s commitment to workforce readiness and community collaboration by equipping students with the skills and experience needed to respond effectively in emergency situations. The event also highlights the strength of partnerships between the college and regional healthcare providers working together to build a highly trained workforce for Southern Idaho.
