Assessment

Assessment plays an important role in higher education; this role moves beyond merely evaluating students' performance.  Through CSI's annual General Education Portfolio Review process, Assessment Week, Program Review, and other processes, we work collectively and holistically to promote student engagement, improve teaching methods, inform curriculum development, enrich learning experiences, and prepare students for success in their chosen work environments.

Please explore these resources, and contact the CSI Teaching & Learning Center at tlc@csi.edu to volunteer as a portfolio reader, request a 1:1 consultation, or to submit further assessment-related resources.

Student-Focused Assessment

Dr. Natasha Jankowski visited CSI during Assessment Week in 2023.  As a higher education and assessment expert, Dr. Jankowski contributed much to CSI's assessment process, generally, and to CSI's faculty, specifically.  She brings a wealth of actionable knowledge, enthusiasm for assessment, and relatability.  CSI instructors can view Dr. Jankowski's book, "Student-Focused Learning and Assessment"; all others, please click below to view Dr. Jankowski's presentation to CSI.

TILT

Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) is a teaching style that helps students to understand how and why they are learning course content in ways chosen by their instructor, how they will be assessed, and how that learning will be helpful to them in their life and employment.
