CSI Coronavirus and CARES Act Information CLOSE ALERT

Getting Started

Ready to get started with CSI-NTEPP?

Ensure your Content Area Qualifier

The state requires that ALL CSI-NTEPP candidates have a content area qualifier for admittance to the program and PRIOR to the application for an Interim Certification.  A content area qualifier can be a baccalaureate degree in the exact content area of the sought-after certification, the required content area Praxis test(s) (or ABCTE content test), OR qualifying points on the USECC rubric. CSI-NTEPP must receive proof of a candidate’s content area qualifier before the candidate enrolls in the program.

Praxis requirements for each of the State's certification area. If the candidate possesses a baccalaureate degree in the exact content area they have been hired to teach and are seeking certification, it is possible that the Praxis test requirement may be waived.  If qualifying points on the USECC rubric will act as the qualifier.

Gather all your transcripts, Praxis or ABCTE test Score Reports (if applicable), Completed USECC rubric (if applicable), and copies of valid teacher certification(s) (if applicable).

In order to keep things simple, please follow these tasks in numerical order:

  1. Please send one concise email with the following information in the body and supporting documentation attached to both Katie Rhodenbaugh at and Teresa Carter at
    • Transcripts (unofficial are fine)
    • Degrees Earned (e.g. English, Business, Music, etc.)
    • Completed Rubric (if applicable)
    • Praxis or ABCTE Score Report (if applicable)
    • Certification(s) you already hold
    • Certification you are Seeking
    • Current teaching assignment
    • Employing District
  2. If you will be serving as the teacher-of-record, download and start filling out the application for Interim Certificates for Non-Traditional Candidate. (check with your district office as they may have already started this application for you)
  3. Once Teresa and Katie receive the content area qualifier and the information requested above, they will compose the Candidate Education Plan (CEP) and send it to you for signatures. After they receive your signed CEP, they will compose and send you the Program Confirmation Letter that you will sign and include in your application packet for the Interim Certificate.
  4. Candidates need to apply for admission to CSI, making sure to enroll as a “Non-Degree Seeking” student. CSI-NTEPP will only communicate with candidates through their CSI email account, which candidates will receive when admitted to CSI.
  5. When semester course enrollment opens, candidates will log-in to their CSI account and register for their prescribed module indicated on their CEP for that semester.
