CSI Joins in Celebrating Community College Month

Release Date: Monday 2023-04-03

The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) is proud to join more than 1,000 community colleges across the nation in celebrating April as Community College Month. The month-long celebration of community colleges is coordinated by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) and is designed to improve awareness of the economic, academic, and cultural opportunities that community colleges like CSI provide to their communities.

“Community colleges play a critical role in the American higher education system,” says CSI President Dr. L. Dean Fisher. “They are often the first point of entry into higher education for students, including older adults, and those seeking career and technical education. The College of Southern Idaho is honored to be the Magic Valley’s community college, and we’re proud of the many ways that we serve the communities across our region.”

CSI’s celebration of Community College Month will culminate with a Community Open House held on the main campus in Twin Falls on Saturday, April 29. The event, which will run from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm will provide an opportunity for community members to visit their community college and learn about everything that CSI has to offer. The Community Open House will feature information about CSI programs and services, campus tours, food, opportunities to meet CSI athletics teams, and many other fun activities for all ages.

In support of CSI and the mission of community colleges across the nation, the CSI Board of Trustees and Idaho Governor Brad Little have each issued proclamations recognizing April as Community College Month throughout the state of Idaho. Proclamations are also being issued by the cities and counties of Twin Falls and Jerome. Please join us in celebrating Community College month at CSI, throughout the state, and across the nation.
