CSI Board Seeks Applicants for Open Position

Release Date: Thursday 2022-12-15

Twin Falls, ID – The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) Board of Trustees is seeking applicants to fill a seat on its Board following the resignation of Trustee Jack Nelsen during the Board’s monthly meeting on Monday, December 12. Nelsen was elected to the Idaho House of Representatives in November, where he will fill Seat B in Idaho District 26. “It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board of the College of Southern Idaho,” said Nelsen. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve all of District 26 in my new role, and I am confident that the citizens of Jerome County will find a qualified candidate to represent them on the CSI Board.”

Per Title 22, Chapter 2106 of Idaho Code, Nelsen’s seat will be filled by appointment of the four remaining Trustees. Applicants for the open position must be qualified electors in the community college district and must reside within the zone of the vacant position. Nelsen’s seat on the CSI Board represents Zone 3, which encompasses the majority of Jerome County. A map of the College of Southern Idaho Trustee Zones can be found on the CSI website at www.csi.edu/about/board-of-trustees/trustee-zones-map.aspx

Persons interested in applying for the open seat must submit a written letter to CSI Vice President of Administration Jeff Harmon (serving as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Board) addressing their reasons for seeking a seat on the Board and their qualifications to serve. Employees of the College of Southern Idaho are not eligible to serve as trustees. The deadline for submitting letters of interest is January 20, 2023. An additional interview process will be required of the one or more finalists selected by the Trustees. The new Board member will serve until November 2024, at which time the appointed trustee may choose to run for election to the position for a four-year term.

Details outlining how to submit an application can be found at: www.csi.edu/trustee-search
