Admission Steps

Coursework covers a broad range of fundamental and advanced topics including engine, electrical, HVAC, hydraulic and powertrain systems. Students will also have opportunities to participate in cooperative education with local industry partners to learn real-world applications for their skills. This is a limited enrollment program that accepts students in the fall semester.

  1. Apply to CSI and become a Golden Eagle: Fill out the free online form to Apply to CSI, then watch your email for your acceptance letter and instructions to get set up as a new student. 

  2. Take a mechanical reasoning test: All applicants interested in the Heavy Equipment Ag Technology (HEAT) program need to complete the mechanical reasoning test in the CSI Testing Center. You will need your CSI student ID number and a valid photo ID with you in order to take the test. This is a timed 12-minute test. You must arrive one hour before closing, so be sure to check the current CSI Testing Center hours of operation

  3. Submit Letter of Recommendation: All applicants interested in the Heavy Equipment Ag Technology (HEAT) program need a letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or long-time acquaintance. Send your letter to program instructor Rodney Higgins.
  4. Prepare for Registration: Make an appointment with an Enrollment Specialist to declare your major and get registration clearance.
  5. Prepare for Additional Required Expenses: Budget now so that you are ready to purchase the additional materials listed below:
    - Textbooks: $470
    - Course fees for program duration: $285
    - Tools: $5,000-$9,000 depending on quality and brand
  6. Meet with Instructor: Schedule an appointment with program instructor Rodney Higgins to discuss next steps.
