General Education Academy


The CSI Dual Credit General Education Academy focuses on providing Dual Credit students a purposeful general education pathway, while introducing students to honors and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) courses. The Academy is structured, by design, to provide Dual Credit students college courses at the CSI Twin Falls campus in the mornings and return to high school in the afternoon throughout a two-year time commitment. At the conclusion of the Academy, students will be eligible to successfully apply for the CSI Academic Certificate and seamlessly continue their associate’s degree at CSI after high school


The Academy is comprised of two summer and four semester terms, and is built with the following courses to be completed by the student:

Students in the Academy will be required to apply for Advanced Opportunities Fast Forward Funding through the Idaho State Department of Education. The Fast Forward Program provides students $75.00 per credit for on-campus college courses, while the CSI Foundation has graciously agreed to scholarship the remaining tuition cost associated with the Academy. Students will be required to pay for digital textbooks and supplies on their own.

The total estimated cost to the student is approximately $1,400 over the course of the 2 year program. Please note that textbook costs could be subject to change.



The Academy is limited to 25 Dual Credit students and will begin this 2017 summer term running June 5-July 28, 2017. Complete applications will be received through May 19, 2017. Applicant candidates will be required to visit with the Dual Credit Program for a face-to-face interview as part of the selection process. Application to the academy does not guarantee a spot in the program. Students will be notified shortly after with a selection status decision. Students selected must attend orientation and course registration activities scheduled on June 1, 2017 from 5pm-8pm. Parents and legal guardians are required to attend the orientation and registration activities.  

Students will need to submit the following information with their application for consideration:

  • High School Transcript: Indicates the student is currently completing their high school sophomore year and has a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (g.p.a.)
  • A Letter of Support from a Counselor or Principal which clearly references the student’s overall academic preparedness and maturity to complete the Academy program
  • Student Essay Questions: (Essay questions are included in the online Academy Application link included below):
    • Student introduction and background
    • Student’s reasons for applying to the Academy
    • Student’s plan to budget for textbooks and supplies
      • (we’ll enter an estimated total digital textbook and supply pricing)
    • Student’s plan for transportation arrangements to and from the CSI Twin Falls campus
  • Academy Application Form
    • Student must have applied for admission to the CSI Dual Credit Program and have a CSI Student ID Number to complete the online Academy Application Form linked below.
