Admission Steps

Thirty (30) students are accepted each fall and spring semester, dependent on clinical placement. Given the competitive nature of the program, acceptance is determined on the highest points accrued, see PN Admission Score Sheet*. There is not a wait list; students not accepted will need to reapply.

* The score sheet will only be used to rank applicants. There is no minimum score needed to apply. Applicants will only receive points for documentation they provide.

Application materials are due by or postmarked by September 15 or the February 15 deadline of each year.

Prerequisites

  • Applicants must be able to meet the mental and physical eligibility requirements.
  • To start the 1st semester of the Practical Nursing courses, you must have successfully completed:
    • Pre-college level math course, if applicable, (MATH 025, MATH 099B, MATH 023, or MATH 043) or have a placement score into a general education math course.
    • A packet of information regarding the following requirements prior to starting the program will be sent to you upon acceptance:
      • AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card
      • Current immunizations
      • Current physical
      • Background check
      • Drug screen
      • Health Insurance
  • All required Math and Science courses must be taken within 5 years of the application deadline to count toward application scoresheet, program acceptance, and program completion.

Follow the steps below to apply to the CSI Practical Nursing program.

  1. Apply to the College of Southern Idaho. High school/college transcripts must be submitted to the College of Southern Idaho, PO Box 1238, Twin Falls, ID 83303-1238 by the LPN program applicaiton deadline. This process could take several weeks.

    *Acceptance to College does not guarantee placement to the program.

  2. Complete, print and turn in an application to the Practical Nursing program.

  3. Submit the following, postmarked by the application deadline, in order to receive points on the score sheet:

    • Application to the Practical Nursing program.
    • Copies of any of the following, if applicable:
      • Current copy of CNA license (front and back)
      • Copy of health-related field credential (i.e. RT, EMT, Paramedic, ST, MA, etc.)
      • Documentation of health-related work
    • Copy of your unoffical transcripts printed from your MyCSI.
  4. Submit the application and copies personally to the Health Sciences and Human Services main office or mail them to:
