About Campus Recreation at CSI

Mission Statement

Campus Recreation supports the mission of the College of Southern Idaho and the Division of Student Affairs. Specifically, the emphasis is to enrich the holistic development of individual student and community members by incorporating challenging recreational activities into individual lifestyle practices and the learning experience.  In undertaking this mission, Campus Recreation seeks to create a climate that motivates and promotes healthy lifestyles that enhance the quality of student life for both the present and the future.

Goals and Objectives

In support of the mission statement, Campus Recreation is designed to meet specific student needs with a primary role of contributing to the general educational mission and learning environment of the College of Southern Idaho through health, fitness and wellness enhancing opportunities.  The department has formulated general objectives that relate to the quality of student life on the CSI campus including but not limited to the following: 

  • To provide an inviting environment for leisure activity by individuals of all skill levels and abilities
  • To provide inspiration and leadership for developing the wellness-based lifestyle
  • To provide a diverse selection of activities
  • To promote involvement in intramural and sport club activities
  • To promote the life-enhancing physical activities for students and the College community
  • To promote mutual respect in an environment that treats all individuals in a courteous, friendly, fair and helpful manner
  • To reinforce leadership, cooperation and social skill development through experiential learning opportunities for participants and, just as importantly, for student employees
  • To plan and promote structured and unstructured opportunities for exploration of one’s outer limits, experience self-achievement and satisfaction, and develop a wholesome means of stress management and release
  • To serve as a programmatic and facility base for organized College related recreational activities and special events
  • To assist the College in the recruitment and retention of students
