Ridesharing and Carpools at CSI

Save money and gasoline by sharing rides with your fellow CSI students!

Current CSI students can use the dedicated "Rideshare / Carpool" channel in the CSI Mobile App to offer or request rides to/from the CSI main campus in Twin Falls and the Off-Campus Centers in Burley and Jerome.

To use the channel, simply create a new post, starting each post with a title of "Ride Wanted" or "Ride Available", the location, and dates. You will be able to add additional information within the post. Remember to turn on your notifications or check back to see replies.

Use of the rideshare board is completely voluntary and not related to CSI services. It is intended only for members of the CSI community who have a current CSI network login. Tips for Carpooling

Worried about traveling with a stranger? First step, arrange to meet at a public space such as the CSI campus or a local coffee shop before you agree to a carpooling arrangement. Don't be shy about asking to see the driver's license and proof of insurance -- offer to show yours if you are the driver. Exchange contact info and check each others' ID. Let a trusted friend know who you will be travelling with.

Money matters. If each person in the carpool takes turns in driving, then there’s no need to worry about money. However, some people prefer to drive, others prefer to ride, and in that case, each rider should contribute a reasonable fare to cover gas and wear and tear on the driver’s vehicle. For an estimate, look up AAA’s cost to drive.

Respect your fellow carpooler’s wishes. Music and volume? Food and drinks? For a happy carpool, agree on some basic rules up front and be open to trying new ideas.

Be on time. Decide together how long the driver is expected to wait.

Agree on a chain of communication. If a driver is sick or on vacation, have a plan for an alternate driver so the other carpoolers are not left stranded.

Travel safely. Keep the vehicle in good repair. Keep the vehicle clean and safe. Don't ruin it for everyone with speeding and reckless maneuvers.

Have more questions?
