SMS Privacy Policy
The College of Southern Idaho (CSI) uses text messages to share information about student communications, campus services, events, and promotions with individuals who choose to participate in covered CSI text-messaging programs.
This Privacy Policy explains how information related to those programs may be collected, used, maintained, shared, and protected. For information about how the programs operate, including participation requirements, message frequency, HELP instructions, and STOP instructions, please review our SMS Terms of Service.
What Programs Does This Privacy Policy Apply To?
This Privacy Policy applies to CSI text-messaging programs whose affirmative opt-in processes reference or link to the CSI SMS Terms of Service and SMS Privacy Policy.
Covered participants may include:
- Prospective students
- Applicants
- Current students
- Individuals registering for or expressing interest in CSI programs, services, or events
- Other individuals who affirmatively opt in through a CSI consent process that references these policies
Participation in covered text-messaging programs is voluntary.
Consent to receive covered text messages is not required to apply to, enroll at, participate in, or receive services from CSI.
This Privacy Policy does not govern emergency-notification systems or emergency communications.
What Information May Be Collected or Maintained?
Depending on the services you use and the messaging programs in which you participate, CSI may collect or maintain information such as:
- Contact information
- Consent and enrollment information
- Admissions or registration information
- Communication preferences
- Opt-in, opt-out, and re-subscription activity
- Messaging-related operational, delivery, and interaction information
- Records used to administer, support, audit, and secure covered messaging programs
Not every CSI messaging program or system collects the same types of information. Information collected or maintained may vary depending on the services you use and the messaging programs in which you participate.
How Is Information Collected?
Information may be obtained through:
- Admissions applications
- Request for Information (RFI) forms
- Event registration forms
- Other consent processes that reference these policies
- Your participation in covered text-messaging programs
- Your interactions with covered messaging services, including opt-in, opt-out, HELP, and re-subscription activity
CSI may also maintain operational records associated with the administration and support of covered messaging programs.
How Does CSI Use This Information?
CSI may use information associated with covered text-messaging programs to:
- Deliver and administer covered text-messaging programs
- Manage consent and communication preferences
- Process opt-in, opt-out, HELP, and re-subscription activity
- Provide support and respond to questions
- Maintain operational, administrative, and compliance records
- Protect and secure covered messaging services
- Meet legal, audit, administrative, and recordkeeping obligations
Information may be used differently across covered messaging programs depending on the services involved and the purposes for which consent was provided.
Does CSI Sell or Share Information?
CSI does not sell mobile information, text-messaging consent information, or opt-in data.
CSI does not share mobile information, text-messaging consent information, or opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
CSI may work with service providers that help deliver, support, secure, host, administer, or maintain covered text-messaging programs.
These service providers may include organizations that provide:
- Messaging services
- Software and platform services
- Hosting and infrastructure services
- Message-delivery services
- Consent-management or communication-workflow services
These organizations process information on CSI's behalf and only for purposes related to providing, supporting, securing, or administering covered text-messaging programs.
These service providers are not permitted to use mobile information, text-messaging consent information, or opt-in data for their own marketing or promotional purposes.
How Long Is Information Retained?
CSI may retain messaging-related information for operational, administrative, legal, audit, compliance, and recordkeeping purposes.
Retention practices may vary depending on the type of information, the messaging program involved, and applicable institutional, legal, or operational requirements.
CSI does not currently publish a specific retention period for information associated with covered text-messaging programs.
How Is Information Protected?
CSI uses reasonable administrative, technical, and operational safeguards to help protect information associated with covered text-messaging programs.
No method of storing or transmitting information can be guaranteed to be completely secure. CSI therefore cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
Participation in covered text-messaging programs is voluntary.
If you no longer wish to receive messages from a covered CSI messaging program, reply STOP to a message from the associated messaging program or sender.
A STOP request applies to the messaging program or sender associated with the message you received and may not apply to other CSI messaging programs for which you separately provided consent.
