Steps to Obtain Credit through SkillStack
  1. Complete high school pathway program including participation in SkillStack system
    • Pathway programs definition: series of classes ending in a capstone and Technical Skills Assessment (TSA). Ask your teacher if your program qualifies

  2. Take and pass the written TSA senior year.
    • This test will be administered at the high school if it is required for a given program

  3. Pass hands-on Post Secondary Skills Assessment if required.
    • This skills test will generally be held in the spring at the CSI campus, though remote options may be available for some programs. For more information contact Melissa Chantry or your high school’s CTE administrator.
  4. Enroll at CSI and transcribe credits.
    • Students must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student (not just dual credit) to transcribe credits.
    • Students have two years from the time they pass the skills test to transcribe credit.
    • Since these credits are part of a state-wide program, most can be transcribed at multiple colleges. For example, once welding credits are earned, a student can transcribe them after enrolling at any state institution with that program including College of Southern Idaho, College of Western Idaho, Idaho State University, Lewis Clark State College and North Idaho College. To find more information on what programs can be found at CSI and other state colleges, visit https://skillstack.idaho.gov/Default/PublicBadgeList.
    • To transcribe credits please fill out the transcription request form completely and mail a check for $10 a credit to the address below.
