Help Using Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is a great tool for online voice and video meetings that is simple and comes with a unique set of features that make it among the top free apps available to anyone. Similar to Zoom, Microsoft Teams allows you to connect with others over voice and/or video calling from a computer or smartphone device. What makes Microsoft Teams a step (or two) above other "video apps" on the market is that it includes features beyond just voice and video that make it easy to stay connected with others on a regular basis.

The NFL and NBA (and some MLB teams) use Microsoft Teams to connect fans to live game experiences. The College of Southern Idaho makes this technology available to every employee and degree-seeking student. You can access the same great technology for free and connect with family, friends, or business constituents.

The free features of Microsoft Teams also include the following:

  • Schedule an unlimited number of meetings.
  • Host meetings scheduled for up to 60 minutes each.
    • For a limited time, you can meet for up to 24 hours.
  • Host meetings with up to 100 attendees at time.
    • For a limited time, host up to 300 attendees at a time.
  • Persistent secure chat - this means you can send a chat to someone without having to schedule a meeting just like you would using Facebook or posting a message in another social media app.
    • All Microsoft Teams data are stored on secure servers in North America and are encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • Access to various enhanced chat features such as a GIF library, Emoticons, Stickers, and lots of other fun chat features.
  • 10 Gigabytes of shared cloud storage.
  • 2 Gigabytes of personal free storage.
  • Screen Sharing
