Robert Rausch is the Director and Manager of the CSI Law Enforcement Training Program. Now in his third year at CSI, Robert brings decades of experience as a paramedic, nurse, police officer, and educator. He first began teaching in the mid 1990s and has been committed to developing future first responders ever since.
Before joining CSI, Robert studied at the University of Montana Western, Idaho State University, Purdue Global University, Bowling Green State University, and Northwestern University. He served with the Shelley Police Department, Idaho State Police, and the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office, and has taught in law enforcement training programs since the early 2000s.
At CSI, Robert oversees both the Detention Academy and Patrol Academy. He teaches core law enforcement topics and works closely with instructors to ensure every student completes the POST mandated training required for entry level officers and deputies.
Robert’s favorite part of teaching at CSI is the people. He values his students, the instructors he works alongside, and the campus community that makes CSI such a positive place to be. He loves being part of a team that is dedicated to life changing education.
Supporting students is at the center of his work. Robert adapts instruction to different learning styles, makes time for students outside of regular class hours, and encourages lifelong learning as a foundation for their careers.
He continually updates the program as laws and court rulings evolve, ensuring CSI graduates are prepared for the realities of modern policing.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with his daughter and granddaughter, training his dog Justice in herding and tracking, practicing martial arts, and cooking for friends and family. A fun fact most students would not guess is that he is known for hosting an excellent Thanksgiving dinner.
His advice to future CSI students is to pursue their goals with dedication, keep learning, listen to understand, and lead with kindness.
